.270 A-Bolt because I think it's more accurate.

i would definately go with the 30-06. you can load it down for deer and hogs and then if you want you can move up to the heavier bullets for big deer and larger.

I would definately go with the 270. As long as you are not going out west to hunt BIG game, that will be the only rifle you will need.

someone refered to in a previous post about the 30-06 going through brush and not getting knocked off course. that may have happened for you, but no gun is a real brush buster. Any bullet can and will be knocked of course by brush at times. It doesnt matter if you're using a 45/70 or a 30-06 brush can and will deflect you're bullet path. As for my personal choice i'd choose a 30-06. i feel it is sufficient for any north american game if loaded with the proper bullets and with sufficient shot placement. I've never seen a 270 more accurate than a 30-06 either. It all comes down to the rifle and the shooter. have a expecienced marksman with a good rifle shooting a 30-06 and another one with a 270 and i'd betcha that a 30-06 would shoot right with the 270. it's all personal preference though. But if it was me i'd be buying a 30-06. Good luck in you're purchase and future hunting ventures.
