ILL BUCK -

I'm sorry I mixed up your Massey Harris with a Farmall - I didn't see it real close - but still what a nice a old tractor!

Is this it?

I'll look forward to your pictures. We plant Rye like that sometimes - and get decent results - but with our clay soil & heavy sod - its hard to get rid of the weeds with disking alone.

Thanks
FH

Sorry guys, I had to work 13 1/2 hours yesterday so I did not make it out to the plot for updated pics. I have a short day tonight, only 12 hours so I hope to get out there for a couple of quick pics.

Ron, my son has always loved taking photos and as you said, he does a real good job. Thanks for the complement, I will pass it along to him.

Farm hunter, no way is that the same tractor!! The one I am using never looked that good did it??

Went out today to swap out a ladder stand and despite no rain since last pics. the plots are doing well. I bumped a doe and a fawn along with a little buck off the oat plot on the way in.

Looks great! I will have to do some more homework about using tractors and plots for next season as mine 'mysteriously' died. I am guessing poor soil.

Arman, how much lime did you put out?

Jim, I put out a 40lb bag, the area was not very big, but now small either. Now the soil is green on the top, almost algae looking and the plot is almost gone....

I also added 50lbs of fertilizer 10-10-10 with the lime...

I will have to go with corn on that spot for now.

ir655, where is your plot located? I planted a small pot with the seed mix I planted in my plots and set it outside on my front porch so I could see how it would grow (used same soil as in food plot) , but I forgot to allow for water drainage in the pot, we got a big rain (6in.) which filled up the pot and drownd the plants and when it dried up it looked like it had green algae in it. Is your plot in a low area that floods or holds water for a while?
Never seen this in an actual plot, but happened in my pot:D

Just my $.02
