Default Louisiana food plot

I am hunting about 170 acres that a coworker owns. He will not allow me to use a tractor or equipment to make food plots.

Prior to this deer season, I sprayed and killed several areas for some small food plots. This was in areas he normally mows and grass and weeds were about a foot tall. I sprayed several times to kill it all off, weedeated close to the ground and threw out a combo of different seeds. Due to no rain, not much grew.

Reading here, it looks like the throw and mow method is popular...where can I get more info on this method.

Anyone else here in Louisiana? What are some proven summer plots? Winter plots?

Good places to buy bulk seed?

Lab for the soil tests?

These plots are pretty useless for this season, but I would love more info on how to properly do these plots. I will be soil sampling in the next week or two.
