Just passed 60 days with zero rain on the 3000+/- acres I hunt. Some 40+ acres of food plot were planted Sept. 27-28. Fields were mowed and glysophate applied about 2 weeks before drilling the plot. Of course, nada. I have decided to wait to see if seeds will germinate next rain (if it ever comes) rather than replant. Comments ??

Don't give up hope. Here in S.E. Louisiana I planted (no till) on 26 Oct into dry dry ground that hadn't had rain in over a month. The seed sat in the thin thatch until we got a good rain on Nov 7th. I wasn't expecting much thinking the turkeys and other birds would have pretty well cleaned up the seed. But I got a look at the plots yesterday and much to my surprise they are starting up strong.

Just be patient. If it rains in the next couple of weeks, it will come up. What you don't want to have happen is for it to rain and get it up, then not rain for 60 days after you get it up.

don't worry Global warming isn't real LOL
but like others said, once rain comes, you will have to see how things work out, seeds can stay dormant for yrs and yrs, so 60 days isn't so bad
but sure sucks, not having rain, must be dusty dry and crunchy every where
I'm on the flip side of things, I think I had rain at least once a week for the past 60 days, not much, but enough to make things muddy! but overall even I am below average on rain falls this yr, and NO snow last yr really either
weather sin't what it once was, cannot count on things as in the past!

Will be at camp tomorrow. May know then about food plots. I remain pessimistic, which is sort of my mindset thee days though there was 2" of rain in our rain gauge from showers early last week. Probably that much has fallen on the property these past two days.
