Buckwheat drying up?

Default Buckwheat drying up?

Planted buckwheat for the first time this year and it came on strong but at only 2" tall, the leaves are drying up and falling off

Whats going on? Possibly not enough water or what?

Most likely not enough water. Most of my spring plots died last year.
