I have been spending some time at our future food plot. I actually got my first muzzleloader doe there. She was on her way to eat in the cut bean field. I had been seeing a lot of deer all eating in the cut bean field the last 4 times I have been there. So while I watching all these deer in the bean field and thinking of what you guys said here and I'm definately going with a late season crop + mixed clover patch. I need to give those deer a reason to come over to our property.

Question on the turnips. Are you planting turnip in the fall, spring or both?

I plant turnips when i plant all my fall stuff between august first and 15th. If you plant them too early they will run their cycle before they do any good but if you wait any linger they won't mature before the frost hits. And once they eat all the tops don't give up on them as the deer will return to dig up the turnips.

Do you any thinning once they come up to prevent over crowding and small turnips? I do this for my own garden for beets.
