Default Easy Way To Plant A Game Plot

This oats plot was planted in (got the date wrong)early September, 2010. Last spring we disced under most of the oats and planted iron clay peas. The peas were hit hard by the deer while small: Lack of rain killed them off.

We left this small patch for the quail. In mid September, 2011 the oats were fertilized and lightly disced. The oats seeded down really well but did not grow because of the drought. Four inches of rain last weekend did the trick.

Today i planted four acres of oats on that place in wet ground. Q. How can you tell if the ground is too wet to plant oats? A. The tractor gets stuck.

I hope the rains continue (though not 4 inchers) to keep things pretty green down there for you.
