Default Premixed Seed vs. Regular

Does anyone have an opinion on whether or not premixed food plot seed is better than regular wheat or whatever you want to plant. Cost justified? Problems with plants competing? Ive spent the time and money preparing good seed beds, so any input on this issue would help.

Depends. Acre or less, just get the easy stuff. 5 acres and up, there are significant saving for mixing yourself. In between is well, in between.

I couldn't find that blend on line.

I found something siumilar by Pennington -
Supreme Tall Fescue Blend/Elite Tall Fescue Sod
thats a turf mix though -

Whats' in the blend?

I'm not a big fan of some mixes. I like a pure stand or maybe 2 types if they go good together like Chicory and clover.

I mix my seed to save money. I planted 6 to 7 acres of winter rye and wheat week before last. I bought a 1000lbs of wheat from a farmer for $70 and the winter rye I bought at our local co-op for $9 a 50lbs. On another spot I hunt I planted Buck forage oats and winter rye, that spot total about 3 acres. This weekend I'm planting about 2 acres total in three different spots on another place, these are located in the woods, makes for nice bowhunting.
