Default winter resistant food source/cover-NY

have a 6 acre field strip planted with *** millet and clover
property borders a corn field that will be chopped flush
want to plant something thick and heavy to keep animals out of sight and still produce food and cover for birds - etc.

fertilized and tilled just want something inexpensive

If you have standing corn in winter, you will have a very attractive plot for deer and birds. Sunflowers may be an option for you as well.
