Default year round food plot

I have a property in the flint hills which is mostly grass country w/ timber along the creeks & draws. I am looking to plant something that would be more of a year round food source than the traditional grain crops. Any suggestions?

I agree, you would probably be very happy with clover.

I agree clover would be the best choice, but it's not going to provide year round food. Nothing will.

Tecomate has a new product called Frost Zone. It might be a too late now, but it's a combination of grasses, clover and chicory you can broadcast on frozen ground in early spring and it germinates as the ground "heaves" and thaws in spring. Lasts a few years too. No work, I like that!

Just to save people some cash, you can do the same with most perennial clover seeds, not just Tecomate. It's called frost seeding.
