Default transplanting american holly

not a wildlife question, but i figured someone here might be able to help. I want to transplant about 10 american hollys into my landscape. I will dig the plants from the woods around my house and transplant imediatly. I was thinking one inch size trees. I can easily get trees of this size up with a little rootball. Have i waited to late in the year. I am in south alabama. Should i prune?? I have heard i should remove some of the leaves. Any advice??
