My project this year is to take cuttings from trees that are good producers and have late harvests and graft them onto lesser trees. Not only with this improve stocks but you can have a self pollinating tree!

Protection! Protection!Protection!

Neighbor planted an orchard andthe rabbits came in and girdled all 20 trees killing them all. They also hit a crab tree that had a 2inch caliber trunk.

I'll take some pics in the spring and post them up. Now mostare still sapling size, but the crab applewas already producing which surprised me. I asked a local guy that runs an apple orchard and feed store about some tips, his trees are all many decades old now though and produce a ton. Mine are more of a "long term" project.
