Default How long will a mineral site last?

Im planning on putting a mineral site down soon. Will it be depleted in the next few months or will it last through the season?

I always just added more trace mineral salt and Di-Cal to the lick every year. I have one site that I've been adding to for 7 years and it was a lick created by somebody else years before that.

If you use old tree stumps to hold the minerals the deer will keep working it for years.

x2. We have a site that has been worked for longer than I can remember. I'd like to say upwards of 10 years or so, and it will be around for a lot longer.

As a rule of thumb....I think mineral sites should be established/refreshed during Feb/March so they are there when deer need them (during antler growth and lactation). I wouldn't worry about whether or not they are there during hunting season as use will dramatically decline regardless....although you may get the occasional visitor.

I have had mineral sites last for several years. Started with a mineral lick and busted it up in a shady spot and just poured about a five gallon bucket of creek water on it. This was about five years ago I think I have added "Deer Cane" on it twice over the past few years and it is still pretty active.
