FOOD PLOTS?
I live in West Michigan and I am working on 6-7 food plots for my 40 acre property. These plots are 1/2 acre or smaller. Besides corn and soy beans, what are some other good choices? Rape? Biologic?Clover? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

RE: FOOD PLOTS?
For smaller sized hunting plots like you mentioned, I would steer away from the beans and corn you mentioned and take a very close look at Pike's suggestions above. A mix of cereal grains along with some brassicas would be an excellent choice. Good luck with your plots and keep us posted as to what you went with and how they do throughout the season. Good luck and good huntin'

RE: FOOD PLOTS?
There's alot to be said for a big plot - maybe 2 acres if you can - plus the few smaller plots.
A large plot becomes a way of life for deer - instead of a midnight snack. I'm not discouraging the small plot - but there's nothing like the security of a field plot - 2 acres+ - even if you never hunt on it.
