I tried some again this year with no luck at all. It was too dry all the seed died out. Here are some other things you can try to plant although its way too late now. Swiss chard, red clover, white clover, sugar beets (requires plenty of water and sunlight).

Cool, I also have a small one. its about 15 by 35 feet. Its sorta neat to see deer in it.
I'll be rototilling a similar size strip bed of greens along a trail at my place once the rain quits and the ground dries up a bit . Might have to open the canopy a bit , but I figured on that anyway . There's already a mature persimmon tree there .

i did one similiar to that this year...I roto tilled about a 40x15 area and planted anything and everything I could find then added some fertilizer. Lucky for me we FINALLY got some rain, so hopefully it's taking off. I will post a picture of it this weekend when I get down there.

Critr, i have a couple that size in my honey hole. it's the only option i have when it comes to plots since i only hunt military installations and can't go tearing up the land. the mineral spots should be the big draw, even if it is a little late, don't you all think?
