Check out the link below. It is said to repel deer for up to 90 days depending on rainfall. The guy selling it said nobody every complained about it's effectiveness. It is for use on gardens and is all natural. Spray one and a pick and eat the next day.

thanks for all the help guys, my dad is set on puttin up a chicken wire fence around the patch just to deter the deer, so im not gonna argue w/ him. but from what u've said, it seems the deer wont bother them too much neway, and they would most likely get smashed up for bait come deer season anyway, so we only need them to survive til mid november. Thanks again

remember to tell him he will have to put it at least 8' tall to keep them out.then one or two will still try it and mash the fence.then you gotta repair it.
we put a fence around a friends garden; we put hog wire about 2' off the ground,put an electric wire between the hog wire and the ground,then two electric about the hog,one 2' above then another 2' above that.they were on arms at an angle with white rags between the arms. then one or two still got in.
