Planting oaks
#1
I've planted some oak trees taken from another area and also some acorns. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to go about it to make sure I don't do a lot of work for nothing. Also I was wondering if anyone knew of any kind of fertilizer to use. Anything would help. Thanks.

I asked a forester that very question last fall. His responce: White oak acorns should be planted in the fall, red oak acorns in the spring. Keep them in a cool spot over winter. The biggest tip, Throw the acorns in water, those that sink will sprout, those thatfloat probably won't. You save a lot of effort by planting acorns that are viable.
