Nothing wrong with the suggestion of using the search feature. Most new forum users aren't aware that they can search for a specific question that may have already been covered with good information.

or the person may not be aware that their question is a common question with lots of threads on the topic,
instead repeating the thread, just search and find it

It is also possible they have already done a search and were not satified with the information they recieved or felt that new information may have come into play since the topic was posted.
