Default Roundup Ready Soybeans

I heard that deer don't eat the Roundup Ready beans like they do the non-Roundup beans. Has anyone noticed this. Farmers in my area say deer don't eat the beans like they used to. They say the Roundup beans have a more bitter taste. If this is true, then why bother planting them for deer.

I'm sure farmers wish it were true, but I doubt it. What say you RonM?

I plant RR beans every year in my FP. The deer eat them like candy.

That is good to know. I was going to plant some & wanted to make sure deer would eat them like the non-RR beans. I usually use the non-RR beans but recently bought a 2 row no-till planter for my food plots. I had 2 different farmers that didn't know each other tell me that deer didn't eat RR beans like the non-RR. I thought if this was true, then every farmer would be using them.

Deer will eat RR beans, they just seem to have a preference for regular beans. Later in the season when the pods dry, there is no preference difference. But theadvantages and yield increases of RR far out-weight the slight tastedifferences when green. You should always listen to what farmers can tell ya, but then try to understand what they mean.

Same is true for RR or BT corn to regular corn, it is just a slight decrease in preference. But once it dries there is no taste difference.

Yesterday we just finished I think about 3900 acres of soybeans, all of them are RR, it sure would be nice if deer found them utterly disgusting to eat....
