Default Will deer eat sunflower seeds?

I was considering adding some sunflower seeds to the corn in my feeder to diversify the food offering. Will deer eat unshelled (bird food) sunflower seeds? And if so does anyone know what the protien level of them are? Thanks.

I would try mixing some whole dry soybeans in with the corn.

Hey Timbercruiser I've been feeding soy beans also. I fill my feeder with a mixture of corn, roasted soy beans, and green peas. I found a 20-25 lbs. bag of black unshelled sunflower seeds (bird food) in our garage the other day that my wife forgot about and I was considering adding it to the mixture in the deer feeder to add more variety and flavor to the deers' diet. Thanks.

I would say of course they do. I have not visually seen them eat them, but they do. Those deer go up to backyard feeders and eat bird seed. I grow sunflowers amongst my pumpkins. I have to protect the sunflowers when they are just sprouting because the deer nip of the tops. Seeds contain much protein and if we eat them, the deer eat them. How many of you would eat dry roasted salted acorns?

I feed the deer black sunflowers along with cr corn and they eat the seeds before touching the corn the protien is around 6 or 8% but the black seeds have a oil additive in it that the stripes don't have
