Normally, from most sources I've read, a &quot;true&quot; albino will be all white with pinkish eyes. Other forms and mutations of whitails that have a mix of white and brown and/or black are called &quot;piebalds&quot;. I think I spelled it right.

We have albino deer at Argonne National Lab in IL, and they are all white, and protected from hunting.<img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle>

Keep 'em all in the Bull.

Albino deer must be ENTIRELY white, with pink eyes. Any other deer that has white where it normally isn't is called a piebald. I have only ever seen one albino and one piebald in the wild. Both were from the same field about three years apart. Maybe the piebald was the albinos child!!! They are AWSOME looking though and I really would love to harvest a nice big albino buck. That would be awsome. Here is something to think about fellas. Just imagine what would happen if the next world record whitetail was albino. The guy would be so incredibly rich that it isn't even funny and he would probablly get all kinds of death threats.

Good Luck This Season: Buck Magnet
P.S. Only Chuck Adams can sit at home and see deer so get into the woods. =;^)

As well they should be.
It's illegal to shoot albino deer in Wisconsin , and being one that has hunted for 26 years and never seen an albino deer , I think they are rare enough that they should be protected. Kinda like the white buffalo. Just my ancestrial superstitions.

There are solid white deer that are not albino, like mentioned an albino will have pinkish eyes. A white deer with normal eyes is just a white deer, but in any case, still a beautiful animal. Both white and albinos can have a pinkish nose.
A piebald will be white with gray and or brown or vice versa.
A calico will be brown, black and gray.

I know people that have seen both Albino deer and a black deer. The black version is very very rare.

I have seen a piebald along the side of the NYS thruway. Its hind quarters were white.

The is a place in NY called the Seneca Army Depot. Its an old military installation, where something like 85% of the deer are Albinos. It's pretty neat. It's mostly fenced in, and no hunting is allowed.

I have only seen one piebald in my years of hunting, a really weird doe, the front half was black and white and the hind quarters were normal. This deer was a real freak, its front legs were so much shorter than its hind legs that it had to take two steps with the front for every one step with the back. I would have loved to have taken her, but it was bucks only when I saw her.
