How to make them move!

How to make them move!
Anyone got any ideas how I can make some deer move off an island that sits in the middle of a swamp on the boundary line of the property I hunt. I was thinking maybe take a slingshot along and fire some marbles to the far end of the island. Hopefully this would scare them onto solid ground on the property I hunt? The neighbours do not have any stands in the area, they have a couple stands well north of the area and they push deer to the island.

ST, whose island is it? if you can hunt them right where they are, if this is not a probability, than use the slingshot method. Good Luck!!!

The island is inside the boundary of the property I hunt, it pretty much includes all of the swamp. The neighbours hunt fields well north of the area, but they inadvertantly push deer to the island every year. I have a stand to the the east of the southern tip of the island. I watched a huge buck chase does on it for 4 days last year, he would not leave the island during the day. Getting to the island quietly wouldnt be possible, its chest deep mud and cattails,, believe me I tried!

sounds like an AWESOME setup man. all I can say is to be creative and use your imagination. Slingshot idea sounds good. Maybe a firecracker with a long fuse sling shot over onto their property???
This is cool. Keep us posted on how you do

Maybe you need to get to the island as quietly as you can and spend the night there...hunt the deer when they get pushed back there again by the neighbors? If thats not possible, I think I would consider some big bottle rockets.

Canoe and a pushpole sound like the ticket to me and hunt the island.
put a duck foot on the pushpole and you shouldn't have any problems getting there quietly. Fish for bass in a 1 1/2 to 2 ft deep lilly pad bed this way very sucessfully. Cattails take a little more effort to move through but that is what the canoe is for and not a johnboat <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
Good Luck

Some great suggestions, too bad,,,,
1) fireworks are illegal to possess here especially those types, also think there would be a possibility of a forest fire.
2) Dont really want to spend a night in 15 degree weather with the very likely possibility of snow, also the 4 legged predators in the area are feeding at that time! lots of wolves, couple bear and a cougar was spotted this year.
3) no kids(dogs are illegal in this area), got a couple kids you want to rent cheap for a week?
4) no water in the swamp, just very thick mud and cattails.
Im thinking head as far east of the island as possible and firing a couple marbles into the neighbours woods, followed by a several onto the back half of the island will move them. Too bad I figured this one out, going to have to stick someone else directly south of the island to intercept.
