Personally, Of all the deer I've shot, including a 7mm Mag., I've never had an exit wound come even close to this. I have a hard time believing it, but since I read other posts that claim to have seen likewise results, I guess I can't rule it out.

The only weapon i have seen do that much damage is a shotgun at VERY close range!

Like 3 to 5 ft close. now a 7mm mag's muzzle blast might also do that at close range i would guess.

im gonna have to say it could be a bullet wound. I have personel experiance this year. I shot a doe, a good bit smaller that this buck with my 30-06, in the same spot. I got a hole that was nearly that size though not quite. I think it is possible.

I've seen hundreds of shot deer, but have never seen any that had an exit would even close to that. It seems doubtful to me.
