Default spike or 10 point

If you were faced with the decision to shoot a 10pt. that you know was gonna have some pretty tough meat, or shot a little spike whom was gonna have tender meat, what would you do?

Wouldn’t shoot either if wanting meat, take a doe instead.

Let the little spike have a chance to grow up some.

If your from Oklahoma you know we have such a over population of does. That’s why we have 2 extra gun seasons for does only plus an extra 15 days of archery also plus they don’t count against your yearly total deer harvest. It is like shooting free deer. If people don’t quit shooting all the little spikes and yearling bucks we will only be able to harvest 2 bucks in the future. The state dept of wildlife is considering that for an option to raise the buck – doe ratio.

The 10 pointer. Let the little one live. The meat will be fine... just prepare it differently if you are concerned about it. Heck, even better... turn him into sausage.

If you are worried about the meat. Go to the local butcher shop and get some beef its better and cheaper in the long run. Dont shoot the spike!!!!!!
