I honestly have never had a call work for me (and I have lots of them) - most of the time the deer run the other way when I try and stop them or get them closer.
I to bought the translator last year and like it and also like the "can" calls. I know they work, just haven't for me.....YET!

Hang in there. Here are some mistakes I made. I had 3 different deer answer a grunt call back so I answered back. A successful hunter who killed 5 this year told me" once they answer back put your call away they are on their way."Don't answer back. During bow season I used rattles when nothing came I got out of the tree walked 10 yards and looked at a deer's white flag. She was on her way.Other hunters kept telling me how successful they were so on Jan.1,2005 while I was reading my Bible in my stand I used the Primo Can once. In about 20 minutes a spike buck came.high stepping looking for miss doe. I couldn't believe it. My trusty 30-30 layed the ole boy down nicely. I bought a nice 8 point rack off of ebay last week that I made into rattles. I'll try them next year as well.

The reason calls freeze up is because moisture on the reed freezes. I dont know of any specialty calls that prevent this, though im sure there are. I know the inhale calls arent supposed to freeze up as much. im really going to stick with my opinion on the can. i think theres alot of people that see it on the videos working or theres people who get a deer to come in one time with it and think its the greatest thing since sliced bread. i've used mine quite a bit and i really dont think it makes much of a difference. a true talker will work any day of the week and twice as good on sundays.
