Today at about 10 in the morning I was walking down an old logging road and look to my right. I saw a bloody deer bed. As I walked closer I jump what appeard to be a buck. Before I shot I noticed that it had been hit before and was stubling around. I don't know who or where it came from no one in our hunting party shot that morning. So I draw up and fired. I believe I hit it through the behind the shoulder and it came out underneith the shoulder. Just a flesh wound. So I radioed my two cousins (one of which is DearSlayer357) to help me look for it. We followed the blood trail about two-hundred yards and we jumped him and saw him crashing throught some brush. We followed what little blood we could find, finding every once in a while spots where he laid down. We walked about 2 miles before my two cousins said "Lets forget it". And sat down on a log to rest. I countinued following the trail another mile or so. I saw him get up from under a pine tree and shot. I think I hit him in the butt. Reloaded and heard my cousins coming from behinde me. We continued on and found him laying on the ground about 200 yards up. Boomer my cousin saw him shot and missed. The deer got up and I layed him down with a shot through the lungs! The 240 grain hornaday sabot with 100 grains of blackpowder and the other 240 grain and the other 240 took the 5 pt down.

from the pic. I would say you are a young gentelman.you did a fine job for a young hunter.it takes a lot of ability to do the job right.
Congrats on a fine buck and an even better job of trailing the deer.most would have given up;as you cousin wanted to do.with a start like that , you will make a fine hunter.congrats again.fine job.

nothing the matter with that deer. way to stick with it. if ya are going to shoot be prepared to trail the thing or dont shoot. to many poeple give up to easy. i have found countless dead deer in the woods from poeple that never seen it go down so must have missed. good ethical young hunters i like to see it
