Best grass to plant in low light woods?
I did a serch and did not come up with much. I am in northn IL and there is one area around my house were we have a dence peice of woods with wetlands on 2 site of it. It is very easy to see the trails because most the the area is just black dirt and very little grass or vegitation. I do see some nice beding spots and places to setup a stand. I am thinking of trying to plant some grass on their trail to make it more then just a beding spot. With it being a low light area in summer I am trying to find some things that would be good to plant in these conditions. The soil is nice and rich though. I have read that it is good to plan this time of year is that true. Thanks for any help.

the best grass in that situation that i've used myself is orchard grass, does well in shade and deer seem to like it ok, hope this helps you, btw i have used it in hilly and shady food-plots in the foothills we have here , however it may be a little late for planting in your locale right now, check with a feed and seed store or co/op they can really help. best of luck

Here are two links that might be helpful:
USDA Plants Database
Granite Seed
You can also contact your local NRCS office or county extension agent. They will know a lot more about your particular area and can be very helpful.
