I put up a stand in a area this summer that I knew from the past that there is always signs of a buck. Was in the stand this morning. This buck came past my stand. I think he winded me or he caught my movement because he stop right were I had walked smelled the ground took off and ran 50 yards. He then snorted and just walked away. Do you think he smelled me? After hunting I thought would take a look around to see if I could find any rubs and scraps. Found about dozen or so rubs and a few scraps. Now what should I do since he got a bit spooked?

He will more than likely be back and at first be very cautious but since he didnt see you and nothing happened he will calm down. Deer are an animal of habit and since hes been around awhile he will come back. Try to be more careful about crossing their runs unless you have no choice then try to eliminate your scent. My favorite scent cover is wood smoke as it is a natural scent to deer and doesnt spook em. I hope this helps.

I'd move the stand. If he winded you, he didn't have to see you to know you were there. He didn't get big by making the same mistake twice. He'll likely avoid that area for a long while. In my experience, you only see a big buck once.

I sure hope he shows up again. I was in the same area last year about the same time of year. This buck not sure if the same one walked pasted my stand. I couldnt get a shot on him. That was the last time I saw him.
