I have a Ruger M77 Mark II in .270 and I love the gun. Great shooting gun, stainless barrel, synthetic stock, heavy trigger though. Nothing an aftermarket trigger or a compitent gunsmith couldn't handle.

I would say the Browning. They are expensive but well worth it. My dad still has his Browning BLR lever action .243 which he bought when he was 16, and he will be 43 in June. They last forever.

I'm with Buckmagnet, get a Browning. I shoot a lever action like his dad and it is as good a gun as you can ask for. Mine is a 7mm-08( thats my open field gun ).
Of course if you are hunting in the woods I would get a Winchester Model 94 30-30. I have killed enough deer to feed Ethiopia with my 94(I've been mashing deer since 1975).

I'd go with the Browning (own two), or the Ruger (own one). I've looked at the Tikkas when I was buying a rifle for my son, but got him a Browning instead. Haven't shot one though so can't comment on it.

Just to add a rifle for you to think about Savage makes a left handed model just like you want with scope. ( one of the package deals ) you can probably special order it from Walmart without paying anything above the standard cost. ( yes I checked the savage web page to be sure)

Duke13 I know how you feel I had to order my 2 bolt action because I am left handed also. My first was a savage from Walmart. N E Hunter is right Walmart can order them for you. My second gun is a Browning A-bolt med. II with a boss system. it has been nothing but trouble. The stock was busted when I got it and I had a lot of trouble with the company trying to replace the stock. I shoot $150.00 in shell and could not get it to pattern correctly. Come to find out the stock and the barrel where to tight. I am going to have to send it back to the company and get the bedding fix. I spent over 700.00 in the gun and it doesn't shoot better than my 300.00 savage. Just thinking about it make me mad. If I had to do over I would get a Ruger or Rem. Browning is way over priced for the quality of their product.
