What i use is a roll of toilet paper in a small size coffee can soaked in alcohol. It works great. And has no smell.
I use to use that, but i recall a alcohol smell. Now i use a black cat heater with the lil propane tanks, and cover up with a moving blanket...........nice and cozy.

well i agree there is a smell until it starts burning and then I dont smell the alcohol. I use to use a propane heater but didnt like the noise it made. With the coffee can there is no noise. and it last longer than the propane bottles. [&:]

Annie ,
do you use rubbing alcohol , grain alcohol , Sterno ?
I also presume that you use unscented TP ?

I don't hunt from a pop-up all the time and one of those alky heaters would be nice when all that stands between me and the cold is a stool and some brush . [&:]

.....it just gets too cold here in Ohio too quick.......heck I can't draw a bow with 50 lbs. of clothes on much less hit anything if I could....I don't hunt here much after NOV.,...its too windy and cold......forget treestands you'll freeze solid to a tree....
Yeah BozZ ,
it gets pretty cold in the Great White North way up there in Dayton , Southern Ohio ...
For reference I live near Louisville , and I remember plenty of "short pants" days the last few Winters . Methinks thy skin is thinner than mine ...

yes kevin I use rubbing alcohol. And unsented toilet paper. but the paper doesnt burn just the alcohol. I have gone all season long using the same roll. And it is real nice cause it doesnt take up alot of space and isnt bulky getting to the stand. And they do put off alot of heat. Just make sure you use the smaller can.

well as to how long not sure but I know it will last for at least 5 hours because I have used it that long. and as to how to put it out. either blow it out or put some aluminum foil in the inside of the lid and just put the lid back on. It will go out on its on and the foil keeps the lid from melting. I have used these type heaters for years now. I have propane heaters but i prefer these. I keep a extra bottle of alcohol in the stand.

christine leave it to a woman to figure out the simple stuff. Not to mention saving money. I am glad to hear that I am not the lone ranger either. I was begining to think no one had ever heard of it.
