Default types of "lures"

Ok. When it comes to scents such as "apple" or "persimmon", if there are no apple or no persimmon trees in the area you hunt will the deer still draw to the scent out of curiosity? DO you only want to use what is in your area? I use corn in my feeders so if I have no feeder in one spot that I would like to hunt should I just put the scent out? Knowing that if we as humans smell something new that we like naturally we are going to be drawn to it out of curiosity to find out what that smell is. Are deer the same? I have heard opposing views on this subject. Basically I am referring to those shampoo bottle looking lures called "Buck Snort" from Evolved Habitats (gel like stuff you squirt out) Any suggestions? I would like to know if any of you have tried it? Does it work? And if someone could answer the primary question above, do you want to put out a scent/lure that the deer may or may have not smelled before? Thanks in advance!

I would shy away from apple or acorn scents if there are non of these in your area. If you're trying to get to deer through their curiosity I'd recommend buck fever synthetics scents. Deer will investigte and look for other deer and BF makes great scents. There are a couple of active threads in the bow forum on th subject. I have some mock scrapes that AI made back in April that the deer have taken over and frequent often. Here's a link to their site: www.hawgslimited.com
