I have the misfortune of selling my old gun and picking up three new guns this year. At some point all will come with me. I will be hunting in KY and will go to Mississippi and Arkansas with family members.
Marlin 1895 45/70 with open sights
Tikka 7MM stainless laminate Pentax Lightseeker II scope
Ruger #1 .270 Stainless laminate with Pentax Lightseeker II scope
I think I am looking forward to the 45/70 the most.

Remington 700 BDL .243 with a Leupold VX-I 4-12X40
Not sure which ammo yet, I've been shooting Federal Vital-Shok 100gr and Hornady 100gr Light Mags so far. Its my first time hunting and I just got the gun recently.

I'll be using my Winchester Model 70 featherweight in .243 with a Leupold VariX-III 3.5-10X. I'll be using Winchester SuperX 100 grain cartridges. I'm also using this rig on my first pronghorn antelope hunt in mid-October this year in Wyoming. I bought the rifle new last fall and have not taken a game animal with it yet. I took a buck with my .25-06 and then switched to the .243 to take a doe, but missed the one shot I had on a doe that season. The doe stuck her nose out from behind a tree, reaching up to nibble persimmons. Then her head was out in the open. Then her neck was out in the open. I was freaking out. Then when her body was out I think I got impatient and shot over her back. The heavy manufacturer's trigger -- 6 LBS measured by the gun smith who lightened it to 2.8 LBS after the season -- may have contributed to my miss, also. The shot was about 150 yards and I was in a kneeling position: should have been able to make the shot, I just muffed it. I followed it up carefully but found no signs of a hit, and I didn't think I had hit at the time either.
