I took my first shot at a deer (2nd also) during my 4th season hunting....I was 17 years old--1970---nice FAT smallish doe.....pretty good shot (whichever one hit it..the first or second _impatient) tough but successful track, and less than easy drag,,,,,but EXCELLENT eating.

I have yet to get one but I am determined. I have only been hunting one year, and my father didnt hunt, actually I just got into it from watching hunting movies, and my freinds father taught me to shoot a bow. I taught myself shotgun and tracking deer and all, saw about 15 deer this season in MA but didnt drop any.
CanT wait for next season tho, getting treestands and all now. Any advice?

As a kid, I used to go hunting with my dad and his friends. I look back at those times, which I cherish, but my dad spent more time drinking and going to the Nevada casinos than hunting. some how, he did kill a couple nice bucks. not sure how, they must have fallen in his lap from the sky LOL. it took me three years to kill my first buck, forked horn Muley, about a 25 yard shot with my trusty 30/30. what a trophy he was at the time. I was jumping for joy like he was a Boone and Crocket buck.

Oh, i dunno, it must have been 15 min. I was walking to my stand on my first morning of shotgun season(13 yrs old). I heard something and looked up and got him. 9 pnts, 130 gross. I've always been lucky. I killed a buck every year since. I'm 25 now.

Jimmy, Was the last day of the season on my 3rd year hunting. Was tired of sitting and was standing in the middle of the trail and a big doe (126 lb) came trotting down to me. I shot her at about 20 yds. She dropped like a sack and was just watching her when the Buck came down the same trail with his nose to the ground bleeting like a sheep. I shot him twice but he kept going. I was pissed thinking I could have had a double header. I checked for blood and there was lots. We found him about 100 yds from there. He was 9 pt (190 lbs dressed) My first deer was actually two.
