I hunt in Northern Ontario, Canada. I use a Browning 308 BAR with 150gr bullet. It is heavy for deer but we have lots of Bear in the area and I like something heavy enough for them as well. Most of our shots are close, 100 yds tops. I also use it for Moose which can be longer shots. Good reliable gun!!

Kbbiscuit, I carry a 45-70 most of the time for Elk but it does a great job on deer. most of my hunting is spot and stalk and I keep my shots under 150yrd. As in all Legal cal. put it in the vitals and the go down.
