Recently i was asked the question if a deer attacks what are you supposed to do, and since i have no idea i just figured the best thing to do is ask you all, so any answers?????

While hunting? Can't get to my gun for some reason? Have a Knife?

Off season? No gun?

Rabid carniverous deer?

I think, stay away from antlers/hooves. Try to get up a tree...I just can't see this happening...deer are so afraid of people...

How about making predator sounds to try to avoid an "aggressive" deer?

There was a guy attacked by an 8 point in Michigan a couple years ago. I belive it was Manistee. It's not Manistee, I just can't think of the name right now. N E WAY. He was fishing by a river when the he turned when he heard a noise and there was the buck. It charged him and he just crabbed the horns and went for a ride. They ended up in the water together and he somehow got his belt off and around the bucks neck. He started to choke it.....MUSKEGEN...thats it. N E WAY AGAIN. They ended up out of the water where he eventually killed the deer by choking it to death. He called his wife and told her to go get a hunting tag for him. She got it, and he brought it home.

Somehow, word got to the DNR and he was PROMPTLY ticketed and the deer was confiscated. He told his story, and they did not believe it. The deer had a broken hip as well, thats what they didn't believe him. Well, the deer also had really bad markings around it's neck...hence the belt!!!! Well, turns out there was a motorist who called in a deer/auto collision, and they never found the deer. HENSE THE BROKEN HIP. So, in the end he got the ticket removed, and the deer back. I think this happened two years ago or so. They think the deer attacked him because it was injured and just felt threatened.

I read this article first had in the paper...not on the internet while I was in School up in Michigan.

So...if you get attacked by a deer...grab your belt.

i really can't imagine this happening. But if it did i'd utalize a few fighting tactics. #1--Hog tie em, #2--Play dead, #3--Go for the jugular, #4--Stone Cold Stunner, #5 just take my dirty lickin' from the deer. them animals have been tryin to get even with me for years now. I might as well get it out of the way........

Actually 5 years ago somewhere in Colorado a buck deer killed a 5 year old child who was feeding the deer junior mints. couldn't give him the mints fast enough and used his hooves as knives into the boy's chest.

If a deer attacks you... I would laugh my a%$ off.

I would just call the game warden. They can take care of everything-all the time. They are always the ones who can sort everything out involving animals and people, right ? Let them handle it. Probobly single-handedly apprehend the deer and issue him some serious citations for....oh......say, "TAKING MAN OUT OF SEASON", "HUNTING MAN WITHOUT A PERMIT", "ATTEMTING TO TAKE MAN WITHOUT A VALID HUNTING LICENSE/STAMP" or even (Heaven forbid!) "TAKING MAN OVER THE LEGAL DAILY LIMIT".

But seriously-I wouldn't have a choice but to take whatever licking the animal was going to give and return the same to the best of my ability. I won't lie down.

Gouge out an eye, push your finger straight through the eye socket into the brain, and wiggle your finger around like crazy. Ain't much can survive a scrambled brain!

I would jump on its back, slap his hind, and say giddy-up.
