What is the best moon phase to hunt?
#2

this is strictly just an opinion.
I used to hate full moons. I would never see deer. Once I started sitting all day I realized that the deer jsut move later.
On a full moon, deer would not move until after dark in the afternoon, but in the morning they were moving later. Instead of seeing deer at 700 in the morning i would see them at 900. now on a new moon it was the opposite. they would move early in the afternoon, and come in before light in the morning.

I know the phases affect animal movements but dont plan your hunting around it. Just coming from experience. It is never a sure thing to see them or not to see them. Hunt when you can and when you feel your best chance is.

With the exception of the rut. I prefer the week before and week after a new moon. I see alot more movement during this time period. My trail cam shows the same thing.

new moon in dec. with snow on the ground. get lot's of extra minute's, so i have been told, that way. doesn't make a bit of difference regarding the rut, though, that's been disproven, one doesn't affect the other.

Eaglelake,
I really can't answer that, I have never paid the phases any attention. My sugestion would be, hunt every time you can and want to. As another said, if you're not in the woods you can't get one.
