Finally saw a yarded up bunch of deer.
I travel I-94 between the Twin Cities and Alexandria often. There is a stretch of the highway by St Cloud that is high fenced to keep the deer off the road. It is an old woods so you can see in it a ways and I always look to see deer. Once in awhile I will see one. We had a 8 " snowfall and when I last traveled I saw up to 12 deer spaced 30 yards apart from one another. It has been a while since I have seen the deer yarded up. It was daytime with about an hour of sun left.
We have had mild wnters these past 4 years here in Minnesota. I once saw a yarded up bunch in an oak grove that contained about 100 to 130 deer.

RE: Finally saw a yarded up bunch of deer.
[8D] I have been seeing a small herd the past two weeks all bunched in a tree grove. I glass them from about 80 -100 yds. All the activity starts just about an hour before dark. It's a great site. Like their playtime, getting up and chasing each other about. I surmize that it is a warm-up period for them before they go prowling for food and water most of the night. Fun stuff to observe.
