Default Little huntin buddy

My little huntin buddy.
2yo daughter Laura.
Actually, she's a lousey hunting buddy. I let her sit with my wife in my rifle blind while I bowhunted a few weeks ago and I was seranted with " Where go daddy??" and "momma! see it ! owl WHO! WHO!" "Where deer? No see deer. Where deer? I don't know!" They got up and left about 4:30 and I see a little munchkin in a pink jacket toddling down the trail. I had to laugh. I lost a hunt, but that was priceless. My wife knew it would happen, but I couldn't stand not giving it a shot. She'll learn. She loves deer. She wants me to read hunting magazines to her all the time. Before her 2nd bday she knew a deer from and elk, and antelope(annlope) from a pig, buffalo(buff-a-lo), eagle, owl, rabbit, etc. She didn't get from me, my wife is the smart one, but then, she married me, so how smart is she?? She doesn't hunt, but after I got my first buck this year, she rolled up her sleeves and we butchered it together. That's quality time!! Fun to see all the jaws drop around camp when they saw this. None of the other women will tough a dead deer unless it been cut up, frozen and ready to go in the pan. I'm babbliong now.. . sorry. . .

That is priceless. I have a 3 year old son that just makes my world go 'round.
It makes life worth living all over again.

Thank God for them.

I've got a 4 yr old son that helped me hang a tree stand this year and rubbed my gun and wished me luck. The next day, I took a spike from the stand. Not a trophy to most, but it did just fine for me. He got a kick out of getting his pic taken with me and the deer. Can't wait 'til he has enough patience to sit still for more than 5 minutes.

Great story. Glad to see I'm not the only one that believes in starting them out early.

I had my four year old little girl out with me just looking around. When we go she always takes her gun, it is a toy lever action that makes cocking and firing sounds. While she was standing with her mom I shot and missed a grouse, I turned to see how she had reacted to the 20 guage going of, I thought it may have scared her, when I looked at her she had a disgusted look on her face and was shaking head, she said " you missed" she held her toy gun ujp and said "you should have let me do it, I could have hit it" Yep made me feel like a real big hunter haha.

She loves riding around. Never been around a gunshot, now that I think of it. Not a good idea to have a rifle in the front seat with a little one. My wife can't stand the noise of a gun going off. So, she has decided she wants to learn to bow hunt. . . . Damn, I just started and I'm no good, what if she's better than me?? Not anytime soon, she's pregnant again and due in July. Even if the inlaws would babysit, when would she practice? I'm safe for now. . . .

You're one lucky guy!

I can't wait to have kids and get them involved in the outdoors.

Ol Gutshot kids and hunting are part of what hunting is all about. I was taught to hunt by my uncle and cousin, my mom didn't want my dad to hunt, but my dad told her she would not stop me if I wanted to. Funny thing was my mom always cooked up every deer I killed while I was still at home, go figure. I lone wolfed it for years after my uncle passed and my cousin moved, now I have my hunting partners who will start hunting next year with a gun, they have been hunting with me for 2 years now.

You have a cute little lady there and I have a feeling she will be your future hunting partner.
