RE: Poll on hunting in high fences.

Good answers from all, all my hunting in Ga. obviously not high fence, but no matter how hard you try to explain it unless you go to a big operation you wont understand it. How many of you have watched a decent buck walk off and then to no surprise 5 min later gets wacked, knowing next year he would have been a real nice deer, i would say 95% of us have. Then imagine the same deer with alot of money invested in high protein feed in that deer walking across the line, like it or not it is a business in some parts of the world. I have hunted high fences and will continue to, but i will say this before long they will be everywhere on big ranches out west, east, where ever it is a business that alot of people make a living doing, so try not to knock them.

I am on the fence on this one.

As a city raised guy I did not ever consider hunting until I was over 40 and moved to Texas. I now enjoy hunting on low fence private land greatly. The game come and go as they wish. My 6x4 Buck I took this year certainly will not rank much with B&C but I worked for that bad boy, he's gettin mounted.

But some guys have BIG money and can afford to A. keep hunters with no control out and B. grow big ones. I think A. is really a bigger problem. I see lots of guys out there who shoot anything. A guy this year posts a photo of a baby he shot and he did not even know what bread it was. Sounds sporting. I also see and hear about many folks who take poor shots as well. A high fence allows more proper managment of the limited resources we have.
When we hunt in the open we have natural fences and I bet most of us would use them to our advantage.

Still . . .to step down off my box. . . .I will try to stay away from a high fence and be more proud of my public Deer if you will, but I understand and think that we should all be happy that we have a place to live where we all have choices and poeple around us who may not agree but allow each of us to make our oun choices in life.

Well said Georgetownboys when you have a place that manages deer and the neighbors dont where do the *******s on the other property sit, you got it right on the fence line, you let deer walk spend your money on feed and do all the work and some guy sits on your fence line and shoots every deer with any size horns and thinks he has done something, and all of you know the type of people i am talking about. F@(*$^ fence line hunters just like a poacher, this takes all the guess work out

farmcntry my grandmother was a great hunter, she hunted with her bare hands!!!! Into the chicken coop she would go, corner one of them wild penned chickens and with her bare hands wring its neck, chicken and dumplings for dinner!!![8D]

Taz, If she didn't use the traditional neck wringing techinique she's no hunter in my book.
