A farmer next to me lets my son hunt on him as long as he only shoots a Doe or a buck over ten points I have no problem with it would you hunt on him or tell him no <img src=icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle>

Anytime a young hunter can get out to hunt is not a bad thing. As far as shooting a doe I see no problem in that.As for only being able to shoot a buck over 10pts,it sounds like the farmer is trying to save all his bucks.I don't think he has too many 12pt. bucks running around. If your son only wants to shoot a doe and doesn't mind not getting a buck,I would let him.

Sounds like he wants your son to set him up with some nice bucks, if your son only wants does go for it, heck they are better eating anyway.

If he is next to your land, would that not benefit you as well? It's nice of him to offer your son the hunting priveledges. Nothing wrong with having more than one spot. Maybe you could line up another spot where bucks smaller than 10pt are ok to shoot. Good luck, but I wouldn't tell him no and offend him.

I just got permission to hunt on a farm and if I have the same restrictions I'd still be tickled pink! I agree doe meat is tastier and more tender. Maybe take a camera along and get pictures of the big bucks.

I wish more people were like him. They won't grow if you don't let the little ones walk. Ask the farmer what your son should do if a 150 class 8 walks by.

My answer: NEVER turn down a place to hunt!! You never know when you might end up needing one. And always respect the landowners wishes, no matter what.

If your going to hunt this farm you must obey the land owners wishes. The last thing you want to do is go against the land owners rules. Theres nothing wrong with shooting does. Besides if you keep in terms with the land owner and gain his respect he may lighten the restriction later on once he realizes that there are not that many 10 point or better bucks on his place.
