First off, My regards to the families who have lost their loved ones!
But some of these opinions bother me, i am only 20 and have been hunting since i was 13 as soon as we were old enough to drive my buddies and i would often go hunting without an adult. We are all still here so i think that saying it is a young dumb hunter thing kinda bugs me, maybe they needed some common sense but i dont believe age is all that relavent anyone hunting should know when to shoot and when not to.
I have heard, and witnessed many stories with even more ignorance than this involving adults. The biggest problem i have noticed is drinking while hunting, this definatly comes to mind after our recent pheasant opener. I saw many ADULTS in the bar at noon and they seemed that they had already had a few too many but they were back at it after lunch, in one group a dog was shot and killed.

Bigcat, I certainly don' t think that minors in general are too irresponsible to hunt. As you say, adults cause more " accidents" than children ever have. On the other hand, it is the parents' duty and obligation to ensure that their children are prepared physically and mentally for the great responsibilty of hunting. Safety and ethics start at home.
