RE: Deer myths
one of my longlost relatives up here in north central wisconsin many years ago shot a 6 point doe. i didnt belieeve it myself until i read the article that was clipped out of the newspaper. that is why most tags say " antlered" or " antlerless" , because some does can grow antlers. by the way, that is bigger than any buck i have ever had a chance at shooting, although i have seen some beautys during doe season.
My fav false myth is deer only move during late evening through early morning. i have trail pics of a nice 10 pointer at 12:30 in the afternoon. my theory is no matter what the conditions, what the time, or what the circumstance, you can turn around and see a deer. so be alert and dont let your guard down.

RE: Deer myths
The two that I always think of were told to me about 18 years ago when I first started deer hunting:
1. You age a typical deer by the number of points. Spike 1 year, 4pt 2 years, 6pt 3years, etc....
2. If you shoot at a deer and he runs away with his tail down you hit him; if his tail is up you missed him.

RE: Deer myths
Concerning " The myth that Southern deer are smarter than any other deer."
How about the myth that southern deer have less ambition and move slower than northern deer?
Hehehe...of course that ain' t true!
