Buck droppings

I heard an interesting fact while watching Babe Winkleman' s TV show last night on the Outdoor Channel. Buck droppings usually have a minimum of 75 pellets. Anyone ever hear the same thing? I' m still surprised that anyone would even count.

serious; wouldn' t the dropings depend on how much the deer ate, what it ate, and other physical stuff?

I have heard depending on what it ate has to do with what it looks like, BUT while trailing a buck in the snow I found where he peed and his stool was in a clump. So I ' m agreeing with JD on this as I have witnessed it first hand. And have watched does just drop their pellets. If I could say that about a buck I' d be dropping pellets containg remnants of one relieved buck.

every deer me and dad has ever taken we always look at the droppings just to prove our facts.....all the male deer always seem to have clumps...does are single pellets....thats just what we found though.....who knows....when i see a big clump i say thats a buck......a bunch of scattered pellets....thats a doe....i think its pretty true too......pull some out this year if you kill deer and see......

I have noticed that bucks normally don' t use the same trails as the does, except when the rut is in full swing. Then all bets are off.
The does usually leave a very obvious trail. but a buck' s trail will be quite faint and not tramped down as much. I had an eight point that I had observed on one trail numerous times and all of his droppings were in clumps. And there was another, might have been the same, that left a large clump right next to a scrape. If the clump size has anything to do with the buck' s size, he was a big one.
(The eight point was finally shot by a poacher on a stormy night, the stepson went down to the field in his truck and he left. We found the buck the next morning in the field. I got the rack but the coyotes had fouled the meat.)
