RE: Buck droppings
I' ve always been told the same thing you guys have, that a large clump of pellets is a buck dropping.I' m sure for the most part this is true, but I saw a large buck relieve himself a few yards from me the other day, and after I got off the stand I looked at the droppings(DIDN' T COUNT OR TASTE THEM....LOL) but they looked the same as a doe. I' ve seen many of them clumped together and I would say that a doe doesn' t do this but a buck probably doesn' t do it at all times either.

RE: Buck droppings
This topic came up on another forum that I visit and someone provided an email that was sent by the Minnesota DNR on a study did on this very topic. It was concluded that dropping whether being clumps or pellets, big or small, cannot be used to determine the sex of the animal. Both bucks & does ' dispersed' both. There was no evidence to pattern what caused what & where, it seemed totally random.

RE: Buck droppings
MN_Deerman,
I read a simular study and it said the same thing. Heck, might have been the same one!!!
I tend to believe that it' s true, just like being able to tell a buck or doe from the tracks. Can' t be done with any accuracy.
