Default farmers seeding winter wheat?

i live in michigan and hunt about 30-50 acres of woods and then another 20-30 is feilds and in the spring the farmers planted winter wheat and they just seeded again about 3 day' s ago which was the 27th or so, what would they be planting, it looks like regular grass seed, they also were spreading liquid crap all over the fields this past summer, and ideas on what this could be there planting this late in the year?

Sounds like winter rye. Where I use to live they did that anytime they could.

Winter wheat is planted this time of the year and harvested in the spring. It could be a cover crop such as rye. Either way the deer may browse it when tender.

It' s definatley rye. Altho it' s kinda late to be planting it, but I' m sure with the weather we' ve had lately it will germinate and pretty much stay green throughout the winter.

If it looks like grass seed it' s rye! They were probably spraying chemical to prevent any weed growth come spring or liquid fretilizer. If the shouts are up and green you have a great food source that deer love(winter wheat or rye doesn' t make a difference they like both!)
