exactly what im trying to say here. except they raised tobacco, they have a couple mules to plow, but not really any other animals. it was a different world back there and back then. and if i had to do it, i would not be ashamed to say that i would be right there in the mix whackin anything that moved.

Raised tobacco huh? so they were spending all of there money on smokes just like some welfare recipeants do today. Im just kidding you eastwood. I think the majority of us agree that things were different back then and the situations were much different but i also believe that the majority thinks things have changed and that excuse in not legitament anymore.

i agree with that. however, he took me back there in the late 80' s and i have to say that it wasnt much different. we drove back on a gravel road for a good 15 miles before we passed a house. " a" house.. one... it was your typical out in the middle of nowhere, tire hangin from a tree, kids out front with no shoes or shirt staring at you as you drove by, broken screen door, couch on what was left of the porch, small field in the back of the house, true backwoods. then about another 5 or 10 miles we came to what was left of the house (shack) he lived in with his 13 brothers and sisters. between the first house and his house we passed a school/church, and a fork in the gravel road where every halloween they would cut down a tree to block the road ( so the sheriff coundlt get back) there and steal a neighbors chicken and cook it over a fire where the road forked. thats not really relative to the story, but just to give you an idea. so anyways, not much had changed between the time he grew up there and when i had visited the place (aprox 40 years) its now 2003 about 15 years since. you would think that its the year 2003, there are ways to be assisted when in need. i agree, but i would also bet that there are still people living that way, and it doesnt make them unethical or criminals. its just thier way of life. thats my opinion........
