Hey I used to eat them little FL "rabbits" andthey was tasty so no offense Super_Hunter. But what we lack in size we make up in numbers. When I was in FL I could take 6 deer a year and here in TX I can take 5 whitetails plus any number of MLD tags I can get my hands on. Besides, any deer taken fairly is, in my opinion, a good deer. Too bad some others seem to want to get in a childish dig at things they don't understand! But then, consider the source.

A good doe can be 70 pounds in some geographic areas while other places they can be 140 or more pounds. It is all relative and in reality any doe shot for food is a good one. That doe looked plenty big and healthy enough to satisfy me. Wish it were in my freezer.

Or jerky! But I haven't shot a buck in years and have no intention of shooting another one. Women and children for me and Mama's freezer. I have enough hides, heads and horns gathering dust.

Probably only happens once in a lifetime

Nice job. Never kept track on how many I actually killed. Been an awful lot. We have liberal limits where I hunt, and plenty of deer. They all eat good and make good memories!

I should have written them down.....I used to be able to keep track but over time some of them have faded.

Deer of various species. I've taken a total of 90 whitetails, mulies and blacktails combined. On top of that I've taken 25 elk, 14 pronghorn, 2 blackbear, a bighorn sheep, a mountain goat, 5 bison, 3 alligators and lord knows how many hogs. Also did 5 safaris to Africa. I started keeping a hunting journal when I was 15 years old with dates, times, companions, locations, weather, weapon etc...

Impressive accomplishments flags especially the diversification of the species hunted along with the geography. I have around the same deer counts or possibly a few less spread over 50 plus years but only 6 elk and 3 woodland caribou. Then again I never started to hunt them until I was a little older than you are right now. I only wish I had started earlier. Elk to me are the most fun to hunt of anything and they are delicious to eat. I do keep that type of journal but it is for my other passion...fishing. I now keep it electronically though on a running spreadsheet.
