Just sitting in my bow stand 25 feet up and it dawned on me that this is the best time to be out there hunting whitetails with a stick and string! The leaves are falling, the weather is cool, no bugs, the deer move more than they did the first month of the season, and it's just beautiful out. The fall colors are spectacular in my woods right now and it's breathtaking.

Lucky you. I am stuck sitting here on my computer with my bow still in the case in a relaxed state. Drawing it would be out of the question in my current physical condition after being split from neck to navel. Hopefully I'll be able to take some recoil for our rifle opener.

I my self prefer after all the leaves are down and snow is on the ground. Woods are so still you hear every squeaking tree branch in a breeze. Get to see all the critter tracks and figure out what they were doing & where they were going.

Well, I've enjoyed the woods when hunting deer when it a -20 and I've enjoyed the woods and killed deer when it was 100+. I've enjoyed them when it was wet, dry, windy, dusty, and every weather pattern in between. Anytime you can get into the woods is the best time to be in the woods because the day will come when it will be the last time you get to them and you don't know when that last time is.
So, wander the wooded paths and enjoy it for what it is at every opportunity. Thus sayeth the Chief.
