Default How Wide Do You Think He is?

If the ear tip to ear tip spread is 15 inches, I gotta think this guy is pretty wide. This picture is 8 days old. He's actually still adding tine length and working on G4s on each side now.

He is pretty spread out, hard for me to guess, the camera is offset to his left so the tips on the left can appear to stick out a few inches further then the tip of the ear then they really are. Something about his face also seems off to me, kinda narrow with a look a few turkeys have giving me.

If his ears are 15 he is about 22 inches wide (I used Photoshop)

I just went and measured 4 of my deer heads though and they all measured between 17-18 inches. I assume they were probably all over 18 alive.

22" was also my guess even though his right ear tip is gone!

To me, it looks like his spread goes at least 6 inches past his ears on both sides.

Most say that a whitetail up in the northern part of the country like we're talking about will have 16"-18" from ear tip to ear tip. Also, when they are in velvet they always look a lot bigger than they will turn out to be when they shed, Are we talking outside or inside spread since that also makes a big difference? I always talk inside spread and looking more at him this time he might go 24" when he sheds. He's a shooter in my book unless he is up in the Canadian Provinces where a lot of people would probably say to let him grow another year!

I'm talking about outside. I will start talking about inside if I have him on my game pole and am scoring him. Although, score won't mean too much too me. There are two benchmark numbers when talking about score. 125 and 170. Since I tore my rotator cuff a few years ago, I got a crossbow. So the 125 benchmark means nothing now. And I'm sure he will be far below 170. I'm thinking he'll probably net in the 140s somewhere.

If his ears are 15 its about 3.5-3.75 from the tip of his ear to the outside of his antlers. Plus his antlers being closer to the camera than his ears makes them look wider than his ears. His head is also turned a little left making his left side look wider.

Even if the black line is 18" the red lines are not 6"

If the ears(black line) are 18" then the red lines are about 4.5 which would make him 18"+4.5"+4.5" = 27"

if his ears are 15 the red lines are 3.75.... 15+3.75+3.75 = 22.5"

If the red line on his right side is 6" then the black line which is exactly 4 times longer is 24 inches

I see what you mean. For perspective, here's one where his rack is further away than his head.
