deer rubs

Cool deer rubs

i found three trees rubbed,last week all fresh green trees sap running out, they were not there two weeks prior,i live in middle tn.,i have never seen any this early..june-11-2016 ?

Deer do not have hard antlers this time of the year, I doubt what you saw were deer rubs. Perhaps bear marking their territory.

Yep, was probably a bear, as there is no way a buck did that in June!

I wouldn't say impossible, its been proven in a few pen raised deer, that some bucks NEVER shed there antlers, EXTREMELY RARE, but its can happen

some pictures might help us , give better idea's on what made the marks
never seen bears use saplings, they tend to use larger tree's and scratch up high to
they will use smaller tree's to scratch themselves, but
my guess might be a porcupine , they will eat bark off tree's?
any chance of posting some pic's ??

He didn't say they were saplings. He said sap was still running from the rubs. It could have been a stag that lost his goodies and will never lose his rack, but my guess is still that it was a bear.
